Prof. (Dr.) Arvind Kumar Agrawal has made remarkable contributions to higher education through his commitment to interdisciplinary research and innovation. His career, spanning several decades, is a testament to his dedication to academic excellence and leadership.

After excelling in his postgraduate studies in Sociology at the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, and earning a Gold Medal in 1976, Prof. Agrawal embarked on a path of academic distinction. His pursuit of knowledge led him to Heidelberg University, Germany, where he conducted doctoral research under the DAAD Research Fellowship from 1986 to 1989. This experience enriched his academic perspective and research methodologies.

Prof. Agrawal’s research interests are diverse, encompassing social stratification, cultural traditions, and the sociology of law. His notable works include “Max Weber and Modern Sociological Theories” and “Ethnicity, Cultural Traditions & Folk Culture in Transition,” both of which have significantly contributed to the field of Sociology. Prof. Agrawal’s career is also marked by his leadership in academic institutions. As the First and Founder Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Bihar (MGCU), he played a crucial role in developing the university’s academic structure. His efforts led to the establishment of fifteen departments and seven schools of studies, fostering an environment of academic innovation and excellence.

International collaboration has been a cornerstone of Prof. Agrawal’s approach to academia.
